Welcome to the Rotary Club of Wirksworth

LATEST NEWS

Once again we were delighted to judge the Young Speaker competition at Anthony Gell School on 21st June when 13 year 7 students gave talks on a variety of subjects. The standard was as always very high making it a hard job for our judges John Dolan, Pam Fraser and Chris Lamb to choose between them.

Our congratulations go to the winner George Allwood for a very intersting and entertaining talk entitled 'Science in Everyday Life', and also to Poppy Noble, Matilda Maciejewski-Spencer and Joel Else who were highly commended. George will be invited to a future club meeting to deliver his talk and receive his prize. All the children taking part will receive certificates.

The Rotary Club of Wirksworth was chartered in July 1948 and currently has 28 members.  We meet on Thursdays at 7pm at Waltham House, St John’s Street, Wirksworth, Derbyshire DE4 4DT. There is normally a speaker at each meeting covering a wide range of interesting topics, with the exception of the first Thursday of each month when we have a Business Meeting.

The Club is very active helping local good causes in Wirksworth and the surrounding area, and each year raises thousands of pounds for the benefit of the local community, as well as in support of wider life-changing major projects here in the UK and internationally.

If you would like to know more about the Club and our activities, please look at the 'what we do' pages from the menu above.  We welcome new members, both men and women, and would be very pleased to hear from you.  Please use the Contact Us link at the top the page to get in touch.
