2026 Grand National

Stainborough hosted a fundraising day at Worsbrough Miners Welfare

What an amazing afternoon we had on Saturday 11th April. Our thanks for everyone who was able to come.

The room, was dressed by Sarah Haynes, Orchids Flowers and venue dressing Barnsley, which looked fantastic. The screen was provided by Adam and Lewis from  Event Solutions Ltd, which made the event feel like we really were at the races. OnPar provided a scrumptious lunch and last but not least, Rob Oliver was the bookie for the day.

During the afternoon we had a £400 cheque presentation to Weston Park Cancer, this was from the £1,000 raised at the October Day at the Races, £400 going to Barnsley Hospice and £200 to the support the Junior Teams from WBCC. We also had the presentation of the Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship Award to Alan Littlewood, he was completely taken by surprise and overwhelmed but very well deserved.

The event itself raised a total of £750 which will be split between:

- Weston Park Cancer Charity,

- Rotary Charities, (which will be local community and voluntary groups)

- and the Derek Littlewood Foundation, a charity set up to support young people who wish to take part and enjoy the benefits of cricket by removing participation barriers including financial disadvantage.
