Rotary Am Am 2026

We had around 60 teams competing on the day on the course and in the facilities kindly provided by Dunblane NEw Golf Club,  There were refreshments at the cake stand - with donations from members - operated by the ladies of the Golf Club and Rotary thanks to support from the players this raised over £800 to go to Strathcarron Hospice.

This years’ event was particularly special as Roy Erskine, a past President of the Club, who had instigated the competition 40 years ago passed away earlier in the year and his grandsons Andy and Jamie Murray with mum Judy came along to play and helped with some additional fund raising.  Susan Calman was another celebrity attendee who managed to win the Best Player on the day!

Many of the teams playing on the day have attended for years  and some of the individuals from the Oban Rotary teams, yes they put in five teams this year, have played in all Am Ams.

A display of the history of the Club and of the Am Am was on show in the club house and many comments were made regarding a photo of Roy receiving a commendation from Princess Anne at the hospice, as well as the event programmes over the 40 years.

One particular sponsor  was most welcome with a nearest the pin competition at the 14th – St Andrews Brewery – win your height in beer!  More importantly their sponsorship included setting up a drinks truck on the hole and providing complimentary drinks for a donation to the hospice – very popular in the heat of the day.

There were prizes for the top 5 teams plus individual Ladies & Gents prizes. The best individual score Susan Calman took the trophy. Additionally, there were prizes for the first 3 teams in a Yellow Ball competition, as well as 2’s competition for individuals.  All of these were included in a team entry.

There were also some great prizes to be won in the competitors-only raffle with tickets @ £10 available to all participants.

A two course meal was enjoyed in the club house after the golf.
