Thanks to our friendly and generous customers, at the end of the morning on 6 December, only about a dozen pots remained of the 630 planted in September. Seven of these were passed to Julia's House to sell on their stall the following week.
Julia's House will also be one of the main beneficiaries of the profits from the sales. The other is the Jamaica Hurricane appeal where we have already handed over a donation to the charity ShelterBox. The remainder will go to other needy and deserving causes that arise.
Our thanks and appreciation goes to the following shops and organisations whose help ensured the success of our efforts.
Bridport Town Council for allowing us to sell from our stall on Bucky-Doo Square on Market days. Home - Bridport Town Council
Beaminster Town Council for allowing the same on Beaminster Square Beaminster Town Council - Town Council and Local Information for Beaminster, Dorset
Morrisons for making us very welcome and allowing us to sell inside their Supermarket Supermarket Bridport Store Details
Burton Bradstock Post Office for selling 72 pots of hyacinths on our behalf. burton bradstock post office
All of our members who were able, including two of our honorary members and our newest Friend of Rotary, played a part; ordering the bulbs, pots and compost, planting in September, tending them, promoting the sales and selling in November. A real team effort in the spirit of Rotary!
