15 Rotarians, a large crane and crew from Marine and General braved strong winds and heavy rain showers Sunday morning to erect the Tree of Joy on the North Beach roundabout in time for the official lighting on Thursday, 27 November.
We were delighted to be joined by Chief Minister, Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez who overcame a fear of heights to ‘top off’ the tree.
The Tree of Joy, started 26 years ago, is the focal point of our community service through the Christmas period, which includes gifts and food parcels for those nominated to receive them.
In addition to the volunteer team, led by Nigel Dorey, we are especially grateful to our sponsors - Savills, PwC, and Butterfield Bank without whom the Tree would not be possible.
