Buttsbury RotaKids - A New Team 2025

Buttsbury Primary School has elected the new members of the RotaKids club for the coming year, and selected its new officers. WE attended school Assembly to induct these new members.

A New Core Five

It’s a new school year and time for the new children at our RotaKids schools to elect the new members of the RotaqKids club for the coming year, and for the officers of the club to be selected.

On October 10 President Stephen King and youth officers Peter Greene and Keith Wood, attended Buttsbury Junior School Assembly for the investiture of our new Buttsbury Rotakids, in front of the whole school and some school Trustees.

Disciplined arrival

The school children had all filed quietly and sedately into the school hall, and sat down on all sides with a space in the centre – very impressive behaviour!  All members of the RotaKids have to be elected by their classmates and selected to represent them.  As in previous years, those children in their final year can put themselves forward to hold the five officers’ positions of the RotaKids and act as the “Core 5” of the school Council.  These submissions are carefully sifted by a sub-committee of the staff and the winning five selected.
This year the roles will be held as follows:

  • President - Freya
  • Vice-President - Lola
  • Secretary - Summer-Rose
  • Treasurer - Theo
  • Public Relations - Kaitlin

Badges of Distinction

Headteacher Ann Robinson moved into the centre of the hall and introduced us by name, giving a brief introduction to the work of the Rotary Club.  She hoped that the children’s experience as RotaKids, and the example set by the Rotary Club, would encourage them to become Rotarians in the future and serve their community.

Ann then asked President Stephen to join her in the centre of the Assembly, and asked the five officers of the RotaKids club to stand and join her and President Stephen there. President Stephen handed each of them their badges of office and the RotaKids pledge card, and shook their hands.  Ann then asked all the remaining RotaKids to stand up in front of the whole school, President Stephen, Peter and Keith and the school Trustees.

They were all warmly applauded by all present.

Serve My Community

President Stephen addressed the assembly, congratulating the RotaKids on their election and the expectation that they would enjoy their time very much.  “I look forward to working with you over the coming year."
He then led them all in reciting the RotaKids pledge,  “As a RotaKid, I endeavour to be fair to all, to serve my community and to show respect for others”.

RotaKids badges and pledge cards for all the other RotaKids were passed to Headteacher Ann for later distribution.

She thanked us Rotarians for coming and we went outside the school entrance with the RotaKids Officers for photos.

We look forward to working with them again this year
