District Governor for 2024-25, Anne Moriaty, came to Quilters Junior School to celebrate the RotaKids winning the Rotary Great Britain and Ireland Excellence Award for the third year in a row, and present the Excellence Certificate.
She started by saying how impressed she had been by their achievements, so it was clear why they had achieved the Excellence Award. She read extracts from the letter of congratulations from Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland on their amazing year!
She said “You have made a big difference in your community and earned the RotaKids Excellence Award for which you have to complete at least three of eight challenges - and you completed seven of the eight. Great job!”
Maureen Lee then brought forward a representative of the RotaKids.
Anne said she was delighted to be with them that day and, accompanied by President Stephen King, she presented the RotaKid with the Excellence Award certificate to the applause of the whole school and all the Rotarians present.
That wasn’t all, Anne explained that each year Rotary has a new motto, and for their year 2024-25, the motto was “The Magic of Rotary”. This was intended to showcase how the Rotary made such a difference in the world through its fundraising, its projects and the commitment of Rotarians all over the world. True Magic!
She presented Headteacher Mike Wade with a Rotary International banner for the Magic of Rotary. This was a physical reminder of work which we and the whole Rotary family do, to which these children had been part.
Mike Wade thanked DG Anne and all us Rotarians for coming, and for the presentation of the Award.
