A sure bet for charity:

Worsbrough event wins big for local causes.
£1500 goes to Weston Park Cancer Charity and Barnsley Hospice, split equally.


Worsbrough Sports and Development Association and Stainborough Rotary Club hosted a successful charity racing event on Saturday, April 5th at Worsbrough Miners Welfare. The event featured live racing coverage from Aintree on a large screen, professional venue decoration by Orchids Flowers and Venue Dressing Barnsley, catering by local business ON PAR, and on-site bookie.

The event raised £1,500 total for charity, split equally between Weston Park Cancer Charity and Barnsley Hospice. There was strong attendance with positive feedback from participants who felt it replicated a premium racetrack experience

The organisations will continue their partnership with another charity racing event scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the same venue. Both groups plan to collaborate on additional fundraising events going forward.

The success was celebrated with a cheque presentation ceremony held at Barnsley Hospice, demonstrating the positive community impact of this collaborative charitable initiative.
