HOWDEN ROTARY PROVIDES RAISED PLANTING BED FOR INFANTS
The Rotary Club of Howden has recently built a raised planting bed for the pupils of Howden Infant School.
“The Club continually liaises with the local community, including the schools, and when we learned that the infant school wished to create a raised planting bed to enhance the children’s outdoor learning experience, we were delighted to be able to help” says Club President Clive Bilsbrough “the Club purchased the materials and members pitched in the construct the bed, we also provided gardening tools”
“The school is keen to show the children where fruit and vegetables come from and that is you look after plants they will look after you” advised Howden Infant School Year 1 Teacher, Kate Firth “hence we are extremely grateful to the Rotary Club for creating the raised bed. This year’s we planting will include Strawberries, Pumpkins, Onions, Tomatoes and Carrots”.
