Humber Maritime Rotary Stages another successful disability games.

HUGELY SUCCESSFUL DISABILITY GAMES

 On Sunday 27th April 2025 the Disability Games organised by the Humber Maritime Group of Rotary Clubs took place at Hymers College in Hull.

 The event, which has been a fixture in the Humber region’s disability sports calendar for more than 35 years, attracted 180 entries from people aged nine to 91 to show their skills in events including shooting, archery and table tennis.

 Guests of honour at the Rotary Games were Tokyo Paralympics bronze medallist Victoria Rumary, who comes from Kirton-in-Lindsey and has been involved in the event for the last eight years, England footballer Gary Davies, who has played 85 times for the England Cerebral Palsy team and was captain of the side between 2005 and 2007, together with the Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Mark Collinson, Deputy Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire Mr Christopher Oughtred, DL, MA, and Rotary District Governor Mr Richard Greenwood.

 Hymers College in Hull is the main Games centre and opens up its facilities to host sports including table tennis, archery, rifle shooting, weightlifting, swimming, darts, new age kurling and boccia. Support also comes from the East Park Archers, students at Hymers, Cottingham Rifle, Pistol & Air Weapons Club, Tradewell Snooker Club, which is registered with World Disability Billiards and Snooker, and Allan Hughes, a qualified instructor with the British Amateur Weightlifting Association who has organised ten British Weightlifting Championships for the disabled.
