Rememberance day sunday
On Sunday November 10, the Royal British Legion and other organisations lay wreaths at Watford’s Peace Memorial outside the Town Hall. This was to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the town’s armed forces community from the two World Wars up to the present day.
Proceedings began with a short service at St Mary’s Church, followed by a parade led by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire up to the Peace Memorial. There was a two-minute silence and a reading by the Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor and Chairwomen of the Council, Councillor Dawn Allen-Williamson. The service was attended by the Vice Chairman and the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, with Watford residents invited to join in the ceremony and pay their respects.
President Rabi Martins lay a wreath on behalf of the Rotary Club of Watford.
