Rotary Foundation

An update by Stephen Ellis on our Rotary Charity.

Today’s speaker was Stephen Ellis ,Past District Governor (member of Thirsk Rotary) District Representative for Rotary Foundation .  Foundation is our Rotary Charity. We have been donating annually 100$ per person for many years and we are classed as being "sustaining members".

 

The money (and from other clubs) is sent to Rotary International .It is used on international projects and some  is returned to GB and then to each district . We can apply for a matching grant and previously we received a grant to support local food banks .

Stephen said “Where has Foundation used the money ?”

There are 7 categories ie;

Peace building, Education, Health, Environment, Disease  prevention,Clean water/sanitation and Economic development.

When we donate our money to Foundation we can choose a particular category . 

Stephen explained how to  apply  for a matching grant ,examples  of projects and the time line, which begins in June of each year, and gave examples of successful applications.

 

We will be applying this year.
