UPDATE...
This video shows the fire engine arriving into Odessa and the welcome reception the local fire crews gave in the form of an escort with sirens, horns and spraying water from their local appliances!
The 2 ex-Norfolk fire engines left Norwich on 19th April.
The 1st one was delivered on Mon 21st April to Uzhgorod where the local fire service were delighted to discover that the 20 year old ex Norfolk fire engine had 20 extra features more than their previous old appliances. After a 2 night stay for training and grateful hospitality, the volunteers then drove the 2nd fire engine a further 16 hours into the war zone of Odessa where it was delivered on Thursday 24th April to the grateful welcome the video shows. The local fire officers gave the volunteers a reception and took them to local schools for concerts and meeting families. They now know where Diss is and were very keen to express their sincere thanks for the generosity of our residents and for our support in their plight.
The 3rd ex-Norfolk fire engine is due to be delivered to Ukraine in July.
This project has been a collaboration between Diss & District Rotary Club, Norfolk volunteers and the charity Actions Beyond Words.
