This years Rotary Youth Speaks Competition was held at St Richard’s Catholic College on 3 rd February. As usual it was a great evening with a wide variety of topics covered from Music’s Enduring power to Internet cookies. The pupils had practised hard and that could be seen in their presentations. There were 6 presentations from 5 different schools. Those schools were: St Richard’s Catholic College, Battle Abbey School, Bexhill Academy, Claremont School, and Vinehall School.
There were two categories of entry, Senior and Intermediate. It was certainly a close fought contest, but the final winners were Battle Abbey School whose subject was ‘Anyone for cookies’ in the Intermediate category and Claremont School whose subject was ‘The effects of Technology on Society’ in the Senior category. Out thanks go to all the teams that took part. A particular thanks goes to the judges, Andrew Gill, Tom Smith and Pam Doodes. The teams now progress to a District Final, the date and venue to be decided.
