The Rotary Clubs of Bridport and Brit Valley were treated to an eloquent and enthusiastic report on the recent Rotary Youth Leadership course held in the Brecon Beacons this summer. Summer Parsons from The Sir John Colfox Academy, Frank Harding and Zak Zidiary from Beaminster school regaled members with their experiences of caving, gorge walking and canoeing plus climbing Pen y Fan the highest mountain in Wales. A second student from Colfox was unfortunately unable to be present for the presentation, Oliver Chaning-Pearce who attended the second week of the course was equally enthusiastic about his time on the course.
The Rotary Clubs each sponsored two students and have been giving selected students the opportunity to test their leadership potential on similar courses for some years.
Thanks to the staff at The Storey Arms and Rotarians from District 1150 for organising the event so successfully. All the students recommended that others should be given this wonderful opportunity and both clubs will be looking to select the lucky 2025 students next spring.
The Storey Arms operates as part of the City of Cardiff Council’s Education Service.
