Past District Governor of Rotary Rev Paul Frostick presented a cheque for £500 on behalf of Bexhill Rotary Club to the 1st Ninfield Scout group 40th Anniversary,
As part of that 40 year anniversary, at the end of October they are taking a group of older Scouts and Explorers to Ypres in Belgium. It’s a very moving trip and the young people will learn and appreciate the great sacrifice given in the Great War. They will be immersed in a World war 1 battlefield tour of the trenches of Passchendaele, they will lay a wreath at the enormous Tyne Cott cemetery , they will visit the amazing interactive experiences at the Cloth hall in the centre of Ypres and parade at the famous Menin Gate ceremony in their smartest British scout uniform.
The young people will stay at Da Katrol, the Scout buildings in the centre of the city, hopefully join in activities with the local Scouts, go bowling, swimming and climb the enormous Izer tower. They have been fundraising so that they can bring the price down of this amazing trip so that it is accessible to all Youngsters that want to go. They have organized a Horse racing event with a difference in the Memorial hall on the 5th October to help with funds. Bexhill Rotary Club are delighted to be able to help with this valuable project.
