The speaker at Kendal Rotary Club on 17th September was Liz Axten from Kendal Lions. She talked about something very important to many aging members, namely ‘Dementia’. There are over 100 different types of dementia which is an umbrella term for a range of progressive disorders affecting the brain, including Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia is leading cause of death in the UK! Currently there are 850,000 sufferers which is expected to rise to one million by 2040. That means that one in four of us will have the disease!
