Brass Band Concert Sunday 27th October at Yeadon Town Hall

Sun, Oct 27th 2024 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

A Festival of Brass Band Music with the HEPWORTH BAND conducted by FRANK RENTON

Born in Idle, Bradford Frank Renton, former host of BBC Radio 2.s 'Listen to the Band' first conducted a Brass Band Concert for Aireborough Rotary in the year 2000. The Band in question was Sellers International but since 2010 his chosen Band has remained the Hepworth Band..

This year's Festival on Sunday October 27th at 2.00 p.m. in Yeadon Town Hall Frank has termed in his own words 'Concert Hall Classic original music for Brass Bands and some arrangements of popular repertoire, several of them particular favourites of mine. I have taken that liberty because this will be my last appearance at these concerts, I have enjoyed my involvement immensely, partly because of my family's long association with John and Brenda Armstrong and their extended family and partly because of the friendship shown to me by all the members of the Aireborough Rotary Club, truly in the best traditions of Rotary.

As ever Frank has come up with a special guest, another up and coming young musician, in this case Daniel Lavacchielli. Every year spending part of summer in Italy, Frank and his wife play with a coup[le of local bands which is where Daniel came to his notice. He comes from a village named Roccamalatina near Bologna, is both a euphonium and trombone player, whose development, in Frank's opinion 'is nothing short of sensational'. After entering the Bologna Conservatory he graduated from the Youth Wind Orchestra of Emilia Romagna to the Youth Wind Orchestra of Italy. With the agreement of CEO Vince Eckerman he was asked to be a Youth Ambassador for Geneva Musical Instruments and is now making his debut in this country.

Frank's choice of music for this year,s programme includes Mozart's Overture to the Magic Flute, Sullivan Mackeras' Suite from the Ballet Pineapple Poll, Gershwin's 'Our love is here to stay' and Borodin's - the Polotsvian Dances from Prince Igor.

For 25 years Frank has brought to the Yeadon Town Hall Stage his encyclopaedic knowledge of Brass Band Music delivered with his spontaneous, laid back Yorkshire humour and following a single rehearsal with the accomplished members of the Hepworth Band they have joint;y produced memorable performances. The final afternoon will be no different. Oh and by the way together with their audiences they have managed to raise more than £75,000 for Aireborough Rotary's wide variety of deserving charities.

Judge for yourself this time by booking your tickets, £15 plus booking fee either at: www,ticketsource.co.uk/Aireborough-rotary/t-noelroe or in person at Town Hall Booking Office (for cash sales only) Wednesdays 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Thursdays & Fridays 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
