Imber Ultra Marathon 2025

The 11th Imber was held on the 2nd March 2025 at the Leighton Recreation Centre in Westbury.  The race is organised by the Rotary Club of Westbury and the Avon Vally Runners (AVR).

There were 145 entries this year with 130 runners turning up at the start.  The race was started by Fiona Price, a GB international runner.

The race is sponsored by Myddleton and Major estate agents and Trowbridge Ford.

The race was won by Ed Knudsen from AVR with a time of 4 hours and 50 seconds with Sam Pictor and Tom Simmons in 2nd and 3rd respectively.  The first female athlete, Ursula Sullivan (AVR) came in 10th with a remarkable time of 4 hours and 51 minutes with Michelle Maxwell (Bath) and Jennifer Ford (AVR) in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

There were 122 runners completing the course there having been 8 retirements along the way.

The weather was exceedingly kind to the runners and organisers, a chilly start but the temperature climbed steadily to give the runners a comfortable day.

There were 5 checkpoints around the course at Warminster, Chitterne, Tilshead, Gore Cross and Bratton vidette post.  These were all manned by volunteers from Rotary, AVR and very willing friends and family.

The race raises funds for the Rotary Club to donate to local and international deserving causes.  Some of the courses supported by Rotary are the eradication of Polio internationally, Youth Adventure Trust, Westbury Parish youth club, Rotary Children’s Fun Day out to Longleat, the painting of the White Horse at Westbury and many more besides.
