Ahead of our presence at the “Birdcage” in Finkle Street on Friday 2 August, Richard Bird gave us, on 29 July, a reminder of the work of ShelterBox. We were surprised by the wider scope of the work by the charity which was originally started by a Rotary Club in Cornwall. Now the charity tries to provide more than just tents and ancillary equipment. They stockpile “boxes” in depots around the world so that they can respond in cases of need. Currently they seek to support victims of Hurricane Beryl in the West Indies.
