Youth Speaks Awards

Well Done the Colfox Seniors!

Youth Speaks Awards

Students from The Sir John Colfox Academy, part of the Initio Learning Trust, continue their success in the prestigious Rotary Youth Speaks competition.

This year’s senior team of Arturo Webster Botella (chair), Poppy Grier (proposer) and Oliver Chaning-Pearce (opposer) narrowly missed out on the national final having progressed through the local, district and regional rounds of the competition with Oliver picking up best speaker awards at two levels of the competition.

To recognise their achievements, the Rotary Club of Bridport awarded each member of the team a book token. Past President of the Club, Mr Clive Bath, is pictured presenting the book tokens to Poppy and Arturo (Oliver was unfortunately not available for the presentation).

In the second picture are, from the left, Mrs Ward with the winners of the District Finals for senior teams, Poppy Grier, Arturo Webster Botella, Oliver Chaning-Pearce and the Rotary District Governor Stuart Gilbert.

President Mike said “Arturo, Poppy, and Oliver represented their school with distinction and clearly rose to the challenge of the competition by winning their rounds right  up to the National Finals for which they can be very proud of themselves. Bridport Rotary Club has been

delighted to be involved in their journey”.
