Charities supported by Basingstoke Loddon Rotary – 2023-24


Local:

  • ToughEnoughToCare donation - Straightforward and practical hub for young people in particular, facing challenges with their mental well-being
  • Helping Cats & Dogs donation - Non-profit animal rescue based in Basingstoke
  • Citizens Advice Tadley donation
  • Spotlight UK donation - Supporting local families in need of help with their children
  • Heartbeat - Community Defibrillator Project – Raised funds for installation of Defibrillators at The New Inn and Wheatsheaf pubs in Town
  • St Michael’s Hospice – donation:

    Raised £2,000 from Family Fun Duck Race as well securing further £1,000 donation from SKY match funding

    Youth:

    • Rotary Technology Tournament – Organised all day competition for students from local schools and colleges at BCoT.  March 2024 – 60 students participated with teams designing and manufacturing a model vehicle, carrying a relief package, to cross a river using a cable, which is suspended across it.
    • Christmas Giving Tree – Christmas presents for Basingstoke Young Carers

    International:

    • Christmas Shoeboxes from local schools - Collected and sent shoeboxes filled with gifts to disadvantaged children in Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, and Ukraine (via Poland) – Christmas 2023 Total 532

    Environment:

    • Hampshire & Isle of Wight Amphibian & Reptile Group – donated and helped to clear Rotherwick pond of invasive non-native plants
    • Purple 4 Polio – Planted Crocuses and daffodils in shape of very large Rotary Wheel in Stratton Park to raise awareness of continuing worldwide campaign to eradicate Polio
