Paula Everest of Westerleigh Judokwai came to talk to Bexhill Rotary Club last night. The talk covered the development of the club from early days in 1995 up to 2025, 30 years of exceptional service to Judo and the local community. The club's policy of being open to all abilities has made it a beacon of excellence for integrated sports activity. They compete at National and World level events and Special Olympics Games. Their work has been recognised by a Queens Award for
voluntary service. Many mental health and social issues arise within the community they serve but Judo finds a way to overcome and enhance their members life experience. Westerleigh have recently launched a new initiative called "The Gentle Way" to help prevent falls in the over 50s, this is a pioneering scheme with the support of the UK National Judo network.
Bexhill Rotary are proud to be able to support this club.
