June Boot, Craft and Produce Fair

In the last 12 months, Geoff Lowles has been cultivating in his greenhouse a variety of plants which he has grown from either seed, cutting or seedlings as plug plants.

As a result he had approximately 400 plants in his greenhouse and he brought these to sell on the Rotary stall at the June Boot, Craft and Produce Fair on Sunday 2nd June and raised over £570.

The plants for sale included Fuchsias, Penstemon, Geraniums (Zonal Pelargonium), Zinnia and Cosmos as well as some Sansevieria trifasciata (widely known as Mother in Law's Tongue or Snake Plant).

In addition to the Rotary stall there were 89 other stallholders selling a variety of goods.  Some of the more unusual wares on sale included a nursery of Alberon Porcelain Dolls, a sty of toy piglets, a glass sculpture with 8 dolphins and corals that appeared to be like a human brain, a wooden dragon, chalk ammonites amongst other fossils, a hood hair dryer, a sun dial and two piece suits for 7 and 12 year old boys.  Stallholders Colin and Tracy were hoping to sell 40 plus tea pots that were a collection amassed by his late father.  In mid morning however none of the tea pots had been sold.
