That is the question Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland put to its Rotary Clubs each year, and challenge them to report how well they have done in the past Rotary Year - starting in July 1 2023, and with all activities completed by May 1 2024.
The objective - to judge the impact the RotaKid’s club has had, and for it to be recognised for its amazing community efforts with a RotaKids Citation. There are eight criteria for success and a RotaKids club must complete at least three of them.
Mike Sinclair met with Ann Robinson, Head Teacher at Buttsbury Junior School, and with Michael Wade, Head Teacher at Quilters Junior School, to review all the projects the two RotaKids Clubs at the two schools had completed, and to fill in the Citation submission.
Mike reports “I had a good meetings with Ann Robinson and we were able to complete the form quickly with seven out of the eight criteria successfully met. The only activity they had not been able to meet was the one for Polio Eradication. Ann said they will definitely do something on this next year.”
He also reports that “My meeting with Mike Wade was also very positive. As always he was very supportive and appreciative of our Club. With regard to the Citation, we went through all of the questions and, like Buttsbury, we were able to meet all the criteria except the support for polio eradication.”
Every organisation strives to exceed expectations and we are delighted to report that both our RotaKids Clubs did just that, achieving an outstanding seven out of eight activities, and far exceeding the three activities needed to achieve the Citation.
