Biggart Hospital Visit

with Rotary memory cases

Recently two members of Prestwick Rotary went to the Biggart Hospital to present our Nostalgia Cases to the patients. The cases contain a wonderful selection of old items to trigger memories in the minds of the people seeing them. There is an old fashioned record player playing 45s and 78s music bringing back memories. The contents also include a copy of the Daily Telegraph from 23rd November 1963 about the JFK assassination. This was the date of the first screening in black and white of Dr Who starring William Hartnell.

It was a brilliant session at the McMillan Ward with lots of chat and laughs with a small group of patients with requests for a follow up visit to them and an offer of taking cases to other wards.

There are eight cases to go out or lend to groups who would find a nostalgia session interesting and helpful. They could also be made available for individuals to rekindle past memories, talking about everyday items from their childhood and youth.

If you are a social group member who would like a case nostalgia group session, or if you have items to donate, please get in touch with Prestwick Rotary Club through social media, or phone Mike Kelly 01563 830147, email mkelly.builddesign@btinternet.com.
