For almost twenty years, Bexhill Rotary Club has been working closely with St. Richards Catholic College in Bexhill assisting in preparing their senior students for work in big wide world.
On Tuesday this week, 4th June, Bexhill Rotary Club marshalled over 40 people, some Rotarians and others from the local business community, to descend on the college to conduct mock interviews with students as part of their workplace preparation day. Each interviewer met with approximately four students during the course of the morning which started with a welcome from the college’s Caroline Adams who was coordinating all the interviews.
Each student produced a CV for the interviewer to base their questions on, and at the end of each interview, which lasted in the region of fifteen minutes, the interview was asked by the college to provide feedback on each interviewee.
One of the members commented, “At the end of the morning when all the interviews had been completed, the general consensus was that it was another successful event with some very impressive students sharing their ambitions for the future.”
Bexhill Youth Services Chair Dave Tollett (pictured) added, “Bexhill Rotary Club is very happy to continue these mock interviews with St. Richards especially as we are told by the college that the students themselves derive a lot of benefit and guidance in preparing for their future lives after they leave their studies.”
To wind up proceedings, the college principal Paul Barber and teacher Caroline Adams thanked the Bexhill Rotarians and local business people who had freely gave their time and experience, and both wholeheartedly confirmed that the students, as a result, are much more aware of and better prepared for what awaits them after the their college life has ended.
