Although windy, the air was significantly warmer than the April 2023 Fair, and this resulted in 53 stalls, (a number only bettered on 3 occasions - 2021, 2019 and 2018), an increase of 40% over the number of stalls last year.
The stallholders included several who had from last year, and a noticeable number of traders.
Unlike the Fair in April last year that there were several stalls selling plants, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, Aqualisa and various bedding plants. A sign on the stall selling geraniums did however have a sign ‘Beware of Frosts’.
The Rotary stall was selling books including a complete sets of Peter James ‘Roy Grace’ novels.
There were stalls selling some more unusual of unexpected items, cat statues; pistol holsters (no pistols on display!); a selection of ceramic skulls, one with bullets in its mouth which the stall holder said “That is my best seller!”. Strangely there was another stall selling miniature skulls carved from minerals or stone.
As last year there were a significant number of second hand golf balls for sale. The standard of golf on the local courses seems to not have improved!
All the money raised will be used to support local charitable and international Rotary projects.
