Madras pupil, Tatiana Wozniak wins a place in the Scottish Final

Madras College Tatiana wins place in Scottish Final

Tatiana Wozniak representing the Rotary Club of St Andrews won 2nd Prize overall in the Rotary District Young Chef Competition at Perth College on Saturday 3rd February and now goes through to the Scottish Final with a chance for a place in the UK Final in April

Tatiana, along with Jack Hogg (Cupar Rotary), Billy Moss (Kilrymont Rotary) and Kenzie Young (North Fife Rotary) had battled it out in the local Madras College heat the previous week, with Kenzie just edging Tatiana in that competition, but on the day Tatiana won through.

Teacher Nic Cargill at Madras coordinated all the arrangements for months of practice and detailed preparation on the day, and Craig Sneddon, Executive Head Chef at the R & A acted again as chief mentor.  The R & A Town Fund supported the initiative and Eric Brown, retired hotelier, is the Rotary coordinator

Eric said, "The standard of cooking improves each year and the regular practice has helped improve the pupils' confidence".

Rotary Young Chef is just one of many initiatives undertaken by Rotary Clubs and they are always looking for new members to continue such activities. Contact the Rotary Club of St Andrews Secretary and be surprised at how much goes on!
