Kids Out report
On Wednesday 12 th June The Rotary Club of Bexhill gave 43 young school children the opportunity of a “Kids Out” day at the Knockhatch Adventure Park near Hailsham.
This year Ninfield CofE Primary School were given the opportunity to participate in this National event run by hundreds of Rotary clubs for thousands of children.
Our excited throng of Year 1 and Year 2 pupils were met at the school by President James and school Governor Paul Frostick and, with their teachers and helpers, were escorted to the waiting coach. All the helpers were given a programme of the day and the names of a small group of children that we were to look after. When seated on the coach we handed out the free Kids Out hats and then departed for the short journey to Knockhatch.
On arrival they formed an orderly line and proceeded through the entrance to the first activity of the day – The Castle Adventure – a very large adventure play area with a large wooden castle, long zip wire and whirly gig roundabout.
From there we proceeded through a small zoo with meerkats, other small creatures and a very noisy cockatoo. Then it was on to the Lost World play barn with huge slides and rope walks.
After a picnic lunch the energy levels were replenished and it was a short transfer to Chestnut Wood – another play area with climbing, sliding and a sand pit. Then on to the Jumping Pillows – huge air filled structures where the children exhausted themselves by trampolining and falling down. Even Rev. Paul tried to have a go but found that perhaps it was an activity for the younger generation after all. Then to cool things down the children were treated to an ice lolly – some of which ended up on the nice white polo shirts that they wore. Luckily, we didn’t have to meet the parents after returning back to school for the end of their day so denial of responsibility wasn’t called for.
The weather was kind throughout and all the children were very polite and appreciative of their KIDS OUT day courtesy of The Rotary Club.
