Every Rotarian Every Year

Rotary Club of Billericay has been a long time supporter of The Rotary Foundation and its End Polio Now Campaign, with members encouraged to donate as much as they are able.  

Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.  It transforms our gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.

Its mission is to help Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.

Unexpected Thanks

So it was a great pleasure that Immediate Past President Michael Ginn received an unexpected accolade from the Rotary Foundation on the evening of November 6, 2023. 

"Thank you, Rotary Club of Billericay, for supporting The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund."

The congratulations and thanks came to the Rotary Club of Billericay because in Immediate Past President Michael’s year of office, ending June 2023, every member of our club gave over $100 to The Rotary Foundation.  This is a donation we make every year; hence we are recognised under Rotary’s EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year) awards – one of only 6% of the clubs worldwide who achieve this. 

“This came to me out of the blue this evening,” said Michael.  “Someone loves us!  For far longer than I have been a member of our club, we have annually given the equivalent of $100 per member to Rotary Foundation.  In Rotary jargon, this makes every member of our club a sustaining member.  This email shows that our effort in this respect is recognised.

It is sad that only 6% of the world’s clubs do like us.”

The text of the message was as follows:

Dear Michael,
Congratulations and sincere thanks to all members of the Rotary Club of Billericay. Last year, all members of your club generously gave US$100 or more to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund.

Your club was among just 6% of all clubs that earned this recognition.

In 2022-23, our Foundation funded more than 1,100 global grants, 470 district grants, and 310 disaster response grants to help communities thrive. People of action like you make this possible.

We’re grateful to members of Billericay for supporting the Annual Fund so that together, we can keep strengthening communities by improving people’s health, supporting quality education, protecting the environment, and alleviating poverty.

Thank you for your leadership and generosity so that we can continue Doing Good in the World.
