The Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill joins the fun of the Christmas Lights Ceremony with its Cuddly Toy Tombola

Thursday 30th November saw Rayleigh High Street packed with thousands of the people of Rayleigh, there to enjoy the much-anticipated Christmas Lights Switch-on Ceremony.

The event, organised by Rayleigh Town Council, features food stalls, gift stalls, funfair rides and performances from local schools and organisations on the main stage prior to the official switch on of Rayleigh’s Christmas lights.

The Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill were again present with their, much-loved, ever popular Cuddly Toy Tombola organised by Rotarian Jackie Wellman and presided over by the club’s enthusiastic, but slightly cold, members.
Jackie collects cuddly toys throughout the year and puts a tremendous amount of work into preparing and setting out the stall with each of the, over 300, tombola toys numbered, and the Lucky Dips wrapped. All the effort is made worth-while by seeing the joy and delight in the prize-winning children. The proceeds of £677.80 earned by the stall will also benefit the club’s Charity Account which makes donations to the many deserving causes that the club supports throughout the year.
