The Rayleigh Mill team, some joyfully dressed as Christmas trees, set about the task of distributing the toys (gratefully donated by PMS) among the delighted children of Hockley, through lucky dips.
The Christmas Lights Ceremony was an undoubted success for Hockley Parish Council after its enforced absence during Covid lockdown, with many of those who attended stating how delighted they were at the opportunity for the community to get together and share the excitement of the Christmas season.
The members of the club were pleased to be able to take part with their stall, successfully organised by their Senior-Vice President, Ian Reading. They were happy to be able show the flag for Rotary, to engage with people of Hockley and, most of all, to contribute to the joy and delight of the children at the start of the run up to Christmas.
Vice-President, Ian, was also happy to report that the toys had almost sold out and had generated a total of £524 which will go into the club’s Charity account which, in turn, will be donated to the club’s many deserving causes.
