Karen Watson from the “The Night Before Christmas Campaign” (NB4CC) came to Prestwick Rotary recently to update us on this wonderful charity created seven years ago in Annbank.
"They are a fantastic charity which helps local children enjoy the magic of Christmas. They have a team of volunteers who make up Christmas boxes and bags for children and vulnerable adults across Ayrshire and beyond."
She said last year they distributed 6480 bags and helped 180 individual families through referrals from social workers. They have filled over three thousand bags this year already and have also opened a second hand clothes and toy shop called Baby To Teen in Ayr to raise more money for the NB4CC. The charity has branched out from giving children Christmas presents to helping families fleeing domestic violence and homelessness.
NB4CC creates bags that contain books, pyjammies, hot water bottles, toothpaste, clothes and much more, not just toys. They start in mid January each year and continue working almost till Christmas Day and receive referrals from Social workers and schools.
