Port St Mary RNLI Crew receive generous donation - Sept 2023

On Sunday 3rd Sept, before embarking on the normal Training and Exercise program the crew of Port St Mary Lifeboat welcomed Michael Gallagher, Immediate Past President of Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann who presented a very generous donation.

This follows a similar donation the club made earlier this year to the Peel RNLI lifeboat.

The RNLI celebrates its second Centenary in 2024 and throughout that time the Royal National Lifeboat Institution has been solely funded by Voluntary Donations.
Every shout commences with donations being made to fund the ongoing upkeep of the Lifeboat fleet and training of crew members. In the current financial climate every penny counts.
The crews are all volunteers, ready to respond to a shout at any time of day or night 365 days a year. There is a rigorous training program and evaluation procedure conducted at a local level and also attending specialised courses at the RNLI College in Poole.
None of this life saving work could be undertaken without generous Donations and the continuing support of bodies such as Rotary.
