There had been many enquiries on social media as to whether the Fair would take place following the very wet weather on Coronation day, but as there was no rain on the Sunday morning, the gates were opened to stall holders promptly at 07.30 am. It didn’t take long for members of the public to follow and investigate the stalls for potential bargains and hidden gems.
The Rotary stall attracted a much interest throughout the morning. Also attracting interest was the display on the Rotary gazebo where John Owen enrolled new Friends of Seaford Rotary and fielded enquiries about the new Associate Members scheme with those who were interested taking away information about the scheme and Club to consider.
Although this Fair was billed as a Coronation Fair, being held on the Sunday after the Coronation of Charles III, red, white and blue bunting was conspicuous by its absence. Only one stall was seen to have an Union Jack, although that was not on display.
As usual there were there were some less usual items for sale, such as a wall safe (empty!), a model pirate ship, some Christmas decorations (a bit early, or maybe late for December!), a stuffed toy elephant, three bicycle wheels without a bicycle frame as well as several hard hats normally word=n on construction sites.
It was noticeable however that now the risk of frosts would appear to be over that there were several stalls doing a good trade selling plants including tomatoes, sweet peppers, lettuces, cucumbers, courgettes, runner beans, broad beans and geraniums.
