Such a great atmosphere as always with the London Marathon when I once again joined in with over 40,000 other runners. Weather conditions were rainy but it keep us all cool so not too hot. As always the cheering crowds keep me going and seeing the wonderful London sights helped me get round the 26.2-mile (42k) course.
I was equally delighted from all the donations kindly received to achieve over £120,000 raised over the years in aid of the Kent Association for the Blind.
This was my 23rd consecutive London Marathon (23 in 2023). I felt good all the way around the course and thankfully did not hit the ‘wall’ and even managed to pick up pace at times. The exact time was 5:00:57 with average 11 min miles.
Equally exciting was not only getting over the finishing line but pushing nonstop and raising vital funds for the charity. Sincere thanks go to all who have contributed whether individuals or companies.
My best time was 3 hours, 23 minutes in 2002 and I have already entered the 2023 marathon. The race will return in April next year so not long before I get back onto training once again.
