Rotary has a long association with Marie Curie, and helping the charity with their annual Daffodil Day has become an important part of the Rotary year.

Colin Ullmann-Jones ( pictured ) is President of the Rotary Club of Edenbridge and Westerham and one of the Rotary team collecting in Westerham on a windy Saturday in April. “We always have plenty of volunteers when it comes to collecting for Marie Curie”

He told us. “Just about everyone you speak to has a story to tell about a friend or relative who has suffered with Cancer, and we are proud to raise funds for Marie Curie Research and Care whenever we can. Response from the public is always positive and we get thanked repeatedly bythem for going out and collecting on the street.”

Undaunted by being unable to help out in the “Covid years” when street collections had to be curtailed, Edenbridge and Westerham Rotary set up a Lottery, and were able to make two donations totaling £1,200 from the proceeds.

Marie Curie Community Fundraiser Luisa Stevens said “Organisations such as The Rotary Club of Edenbridge and Westerham providing volunteers to collect on our behalf form a major part of our fundraising effortTo start a Lottery when street collections were banned under Covid rules and make us the beneficiary was really outstanding.”
