Talk by Ken Rowe and visitors from Chichester

Rotary Report Meeting 6 Feb 2023

Visitors from The Rotary Club of Chichester Harbour

Anna Hutchings and Tony Osmend visited from The Rotary Club of Chichester Harbour to acknowledge support given by our Club for their work at Christmas. They told us some of the Community Service things they do eg, Christmas Sacks, Easter Eggs, school garden reclaim, work jointly wit the Foodbank and in 2020 – 21 they supported 1,739 adults and 2,871 children - £47,960.28! I recommend having a look at their website to get an awareness of what Rotary can achieve with the enthusiasm of a club like Chichester Harbour. I hope we can support them by attending a Charity Race Night they are organising on 29 June this year

Ken Rowe’s ‘Job Talk’

Ken has clearly had a very successful, fulfilled career in civil engineering, mainly in ground water resource. This took him from his home in Cornwall through the Cotswolds and living in East Anglia for 50 years. He is proud to having been accepted into the Worshipful Company of Plumbers. He described a project where he was asked to raise £500,000 for charity – yes, he did it! He has a very strong Rotary ethic and has been involved in District matters along with Peter Nightingale. Also was in Round Table Cirencester with Frank Goodale! Ken skipped over so much of what he has achieved and I certainly look forward to hearing more during times of our club fellowship together. Maybe a new member to us but we naturally feel he is very much one of us.
