Arnside and the Ukraine

The speaker at the meeting of Kendal Rotary on 6^th February was Anna Gorst who gave a presentation entitled ‘Arnside and the Ukraine’. In 2022, she and a number of friends started a small charity, as a result of the crisis in Ukraine, with a remit to try and re-home refugees.  On April 1^st the first families arrived, via Poland, from Ukraine and they were resettled in the Arnside area and have been there ever since. The charity, via the 26 host families,  provide financial support, clothing, social events, language classes and much more. The whole concept is a local community supported project and is very successful and will continue as long as help is needed.
