Birdwatching visit to Cuba

Prestwick Rotarians were treated to an excellent talk from Andy Shanks, Chair of North Ayrshire RSPB. Andy talked about his birdwatching visit to Cuba in 2020. He spoke about the social life in Cuba, with a 'make do and mend' culture.
Spotting rare birds was the reason for the visit, including spotting the Cuban emerald, and the rare bee humming bird, which is the smallest bird in the world, weighing half of a twenty pence piece. The picture shows Andy next to a beautiful Cuban tody. Andy's talk was funny, educational, and full of great pictures.
Debby Broughton-Hay gave him a grateful vote of thanks from a very appreciative audience.
