recently gave a talk to Midhurst and Petworth Rotary Club which produced the checklist below on how to save on energy bills.

.Switching off ‘standby mode’ can save up to £20 per year for each item! Start with tv, printers, desk tops pc.

.Thermostats- you probably know that reducing by 1C will save 8% on heating as well as reducing emissions! Individual thermostats on every radiator -have you tailored their temperatures to meet your needs in each room?

.Driving-slowing down smoothly and staying within speed limits can save as much as 15% on fuel which equates to over 25 pence per litre!

.Low Energy bulbs -LEDs to you and me-consume up to 29% less energy than standard bulbs and last much, much longer.

.New boiler? Consider domestic Air Source pump

.Tumble dryers-use only when you can’t hang out on a line?

.Boiling kettles-take off boil before they automatically switch off -still at 100C but over a year helps reduce electricity by X % compared to leaving to auto off switch

.E car charging-public free facilities whenever possible or if home charging only overnight

.Major savings for the future -you don’t need reminding about advantages of insulated windows, lofts and of course Solar panels for the roof?
