Michael Hitchon MBE


Michael Hitchon MBE was our guest speaker at Prestwick Rotary recently. Michael is President of Kyle and Carrick Civic Society who treated us to a history of the achievements of KCCS since its establishment in 1967.

The Society has steadily expanded its activities in protecting and improving the environment with respect to buildings, including the monitoring of planning applications. Doors open days are now very popular from humble beginnings in 1990. Michael brought along a number of items purchased for local museums, and the campaign for a museum in Ayr goes on.

Richie Cameron gave an enthusiastic vote of thanks for a very informative talk. Michael is on the left, with Richie on the right, displaying a KCCS tea towel.
