Turning On The Tap To The Sound Of Music

What could be better than spend a lovely afternoon of Big Band Jazz and a delicious BBQ in bucolic Little Burstead, all in aid of Charity.  Thanks to the kindness and generosity of Mayflower Rotarian Gary Moore and wife, Jane, a party of fifteen from Rotary Club of Billericay members, partners and guests were able to enjoy the Sid Bowlan Big Band of up to 20 musicians and singers in their lovely garden on Sunday June 19.

Food was provided by Mayflower’s “chefs”, but drinks were Bring Your Own, although there were a limited supply of wine and soft drinks for sale on the day.

BBQ Winnings

Patrick Rothon reports “We picked a nice shady part of the garden and set up our own table and chairs with a variety of refreshments to help with the foot tapping swing of the band.  The weather was perfect and nice to meet up with our friends from Mayflower Rotary Club in a relaxed atmosphere.

Carol had the good fortune to win the first call on the raffle and we are now the proud owners of a mobile Weber BBQ.”

Roger organised our club’s party and Mike and Liz Sinclair, Mike and Sue Ginn, Bert and Adrienne, Patrick and Carol Rothon, Peter and Christabel Strong, Roger and Sarah Kettle and Brian Wellman all attended.
We were also joined by two of Peter and Christabel’s daughters, Emily and Victoria, who were great company throughout the event.

Great Reward

Thanks to the weather, nearly £1000 was raised from the Raffle alone and overall, the incredible sum of £2,600 was raised, which will be split between the Multiple Sclerosis Society and charities supported by Mayflower’s Benevolent Fund.

Thank you, Mayflower, and congratulations for such a successful event.  We all had a great time!  Very Well Done!
