2022 08 Ukraine Picnic in the park

PICNIC IN THE PARK 24 AUGUST 2022

Wednesday saw a very good Rotary event held at the Ruins sports fields.

 From 2 to 5pm we welcomed approximately 60 Ukrainians living in the local area together with their hosts.   Andrew Lawrence (Lofty), the Assistant District Governor, joined us for the afternoon.

 Everyone mixed very well, and arts and crafts and ball games were enjoyed.

A massive thank you to Hazel for organising the event so well and to Diane and her team of volunteers who put together such a fantastic picnic.

 Thanks also to the cricket club for providing such a perfect venue (the words of our guests), with the ruins and a polo match as the backdrop, and to the Rotarians who assisted in getting the gazebos up and down.

 We had some lovely feedback from our Ukrainian guests who expressed their gratitude to our Rotary Club for hosting such an occasion.
