The speaker at the meeting of Kendal Rotary Club on 25th July was Carole Wood, Chairwoman of ‘South Lakes Action on Climate Change’ who gave an illustrated presentation on a ‘Clean River Kent’.
Their aim is to study and monitor the state of the health of the River Kent. They are monitoring the amount of effluent and sewage entering the river and recording any blackspots and checking any wildlife present.
They are also identifying areas which could be used for kayaking and wild swimming.
