Bill Asprey
Bill was drawn to art early, sketching and modelling in plasticine from the age of four.
He’s had no formal art training. Instead, he served a three-year apprenticeship in a London art studio. Then, following brief jobs in advertising, set up as a freelance artist, in London, with his wife.
He moved to Oswestry in November 2020.
Bill’s extensive work includes designing an acclaimed commemorative souvenir marking the wedding of Princess Diana and (the then) Prince Charles - creating and drawing a comic strip based on Roald Dahl’s Big Friendly Giant and writing and drawing Love is… every day, for the last 47 years!!
He was invited to Los Angeles to create a range of Love is… merchandise and just prior to Covid, he was commissioned by a Moscow agency and visited Russia.
As well as drawing on a daily basis, Bill continues the project he started with his late wife, Mercia, to find a permanent home (in Oswestry!?) for his own work and his growing collection of original vintage cartoons.
Perhaps, even create a Cartoon Academy!...
Now, that would be a laugh!!
