We are reminded that we are all responsible for the image of Rotary. We all need to talk more about Rotary when outside of the club.
Recruitment continues to be tough, our club's public image will either help or hinder us.
As far as public image is concerned there is still a great belief that social media is the way forward.
It is important to be where the conversation is.
It is important as a club to be seen by that audience, telling a positive story about what we do. We help people. It is about making it personal and we need to remember Rotary is the original social media.
We started the Rotary year with 306 followers on Facebook and we now have 509, 160 followers on Twitter and we now have 178. We started with 123 on Instagram and now have 186.
For coverage to be given in the Dunfermline Press we need good stories with local interest. We have manage to generate a reasonable amount of column inches with stories about supporting the Salvation Army, Haiti Help, Prostate Cancer Scotland Bike Ride, Limekilns Telephone Box, Youth competition winners, Norma Alari’s talk and the Great Nurdle Hunt.
Our website is probably the first port of call for any potential members so the site has been regularly updated and is immensely easier to navigate and more informative than other clubs websites.
To assist with image and PR the club purchased a new Rotary backdrop that was used at the Youth Celebration evening and a new pop up. A maximum grant of £250 was received from District to assist with 50% of the cost.
Finally I have continued the weekly email communication with members as established by previous Presidents, I do hope that this has been useful to members.
