Irvine Seagate Rotary had a Zoom speaker on Monday. Corinne Hutton, founder of the charity “finding Your Feet”, talked about the importance of raising awareness of Sepsis. Sepsis is a life threatening condition where the body’s overreaction to infection can cause it to damage its own tissues. It can happen suddenly. In Corinnes’s case, another infection turned into sepsis overnight, and she was unconscious for three weeks and had her hands and feet amputated. After five years Corinne was fortunate to receive a double hand transplant which transformed her way of life. Her experience made her determined to raise awareness and to create a support network for people in a similar situation. The charity, based in Paisley, spreads knowledge, gives peer support and runs numerous fitness and arts and crafts classes to give people a positive focus. Information can be found at findingyourfeet.net. This was an important and sobering but uplifting talk. A Vote of Thanks was proposed by Eric Greig.
