The Fun Walk is an annual fundraising event organised in recent years by BBW CVS on behalf of The Fun Walk Trust, and its unique feature is the bonus distributed to all participant organisations in line with the money raised. The 2021 event allowed participants to walk their 5K anywhere and anytime in September, and people of all ages took part to support their chosen charities and community groups.
We are long-term supporters of this event and have previously reported that we raised £1936 in sponsorship, which attracted an extra £475 in Gift Aid. In January this year, we received the boinus due to us inn proportion to the amount of money we raised. It was a bonus of £581. That’s a totoal of just under £3000 (£2992) to go to Charity and Good Causes.
The bonus cheque is usually presented by local MP John Baron to all participants in November at a ceremony at Anisha Grange, but with current restrictions this obviously was not possible again this year and the cheque was posted to us. Pictured above is President Les holding a mock-up of the cheque we received.
As we said last year, “that’s what I call a Christmas Present!”
All the organisations who took part in the Fun Walk received a copy of the press pack this month – a seven-page document which celebrated the key moments and achievements of the 2021 Fun Walk, from the preparations through all the key moments, sharing some of the exceptional media coverage of the event.
In the words of the organisers “Our congratulations go to all the amazing organisations that participated last year, raising over £90,000, and we hope you will join us for next year’s event.”
So, as such long term and keen supporters of this event, we eagerly looked through the press pack and were delighted to see that our participation featured from page one right through to the end, seven photos in total – we really are ... "here, there and everywhere" in the pack.
We reproduce these photos in the slideshow above.
